The diploma of work health and safety gives you the grounding in the planning, coordination and maintenance of work health and safety (WHS) programs for businesses.
In many industries well managed work health and safety can be the maker or breaker of success. This course gives you all the skills and knowledge you need to understand the risk in your workplace, plan to mitigate that risk as much as possible and what how to be prepared for if there does happen to be a WHS issue.
You can protect yourself and your business by ensuring you understand all the risks and regulations but more importantly ensuring compliance from your employees and anyone else connected to your workforce.

This course is made up of 10 units of competency. This includes 5 core units to cover all the essentials and 5 elective units picked to give you the most desired skills in the market.
This unit looks at how to lead the management of work health and safety (WHS) risks in an organisation. Covering the identification of hazards and potential hazards, leading the assessment of associated risks, and implementing suitable risk controls. Further to this we will cover evaluating the overall effectiveness of the organisational WHS risk management process. It involves communicating with stakeholders throughout the process.
In his unit you will learn to lead the initial response to work health and safety (WHS) incidents. The includes planning, conducting and reporting on investigations of WHS incidents that have resulted in, or have the potential to result in, injury or damage.
Here we will cover how to contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of a work health and safety management system (WHSMS). This will consist of a documented set of plans, actions and procedures that target improvements.
This unit covers the development and use of work health and safety (WHS) risk management tools.
This unit looks into the identification, review, development, implementation and evaluation of consultation and participation processes as an integral part of managing work health and safety (WHS).
In this unit, you will learn how to present, negotiate, lead and participate in meeting with stakeholders. Ensuring you have the skills to clearly and effectively deliver information to different audiences.
Through the completion of this unit, you will cover how to contribute to managing work-related psychological health and safety. This includes the identification of psychological hazards, assessing the risks associated with them and the implementation of control methods for potential hazards in the workplace.
Here we cover how to develop and implement workplace sustainability policies and how best to modify and update these policies to suit changing circumstances.
This unit covers the implementation of initial response procedures in case of emergencies. The primary area of focus for this unit is on the procedures relating to short term emergencies.
Manage WHS compliance of contractors (BSBWHS514)

As a small business owner the health and safety of your employee’s is of paramount concern. This course will make sure you are set up to provide your team with a safe environment when at work.
Regular scheduled training sessions facilitated by highly qualified, professional trainers covering one or two units per session
Self-paced directed Learning – participants will be required to complete additional self-directed learning courses throughout the duration of the course.
Final Assessment – participants will receive an assessment workbook that incorporates a set of tasks for completion. Tasks include a combination of written/verbal questions, simulation tasks and assessments.
A number of intensive (one or two day) workshop sessions in which the entire group gathers to work through the course together. This option requires work in your own time also.
This option may suit individuals who can attend some but not all of the face-to-face sessions described above and are happy to do some of the course via distance work in their own time.
Self-paced directed Learning – participants will be required to complete additional self-directed learning courses throughout the duration of the course.
Final Assessment – participants will receive an assessment workbook that incorporates a set of tasks for completion. Tasks include a combination of written/verbal questions and simulation tasks.

Applicants are only eligible to enrol into the BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety if they hold the core units of BSB41419 Certificate V in Work Health and Safety or equivalent competencies (i.e. predecessors of these units mapped as equivalent):
