BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management

The diploma in project management will set you up with everything you need to know to be a powerhouse project manager or give you the skills to better manage you and your teams workflow regardless of your role.

These skills can help specifically project managers but are also highly desired skills in any role. Understanding how to deliver projects in a timely and structured way is something all employers are looking for at every stage of your career so you will be set up for success no matter what path your career takes from here!

Including all aspects of managing successful projects from scoping and time management to communications and risk you will be prepared for anything a challenging project can throw at you.

To become a complete and well rounded project manager you need to understand how to not only plan out a project but also manage stakeholders expectations, manage the deliver from others working on the project to ensuring seamless integrations and handovers to future project owners and teams.

Units

Overview

This course is made up of 12 units of competency. This includes 8 core units to cover all the essentials and 4 elective units picked to give you the most desired skills in the market.

Manage project scope (BSBPMG530)

Failing to plan is planning to fail, that’s why we start with how to properly scope a project. Everything from gaining signoff, developing a scope management plan, and managing the application of the project scope.

Manage project time (BSBPMG531)

This unit covers how to manage time during projects. It involves determining and implementing the project schedule and how to assess time management throughout.

Manage project quality (BSBPMG532)

Here we will cover how to manage quality within projects. From defining quality requirements, implementing quality control and assurance processes, and reviews to make quality improvements in current and future projects.

Manage project cost (BSBPMG533)

This unit looks at how to identify, analyse and refine project costs to produce an initial budget, and then maintain control project cost.

Manage project human resources (BSBPMG534)

The success of a project depends on the people in place to deliver it. Here we ill focus on implementing personnel training and development to ensure a project team have the capabilities required and then managing the team to deliver the project.

Manage project information and communication (BSBPMG535)

This unit covers how to communicate ideas and information at all stages in the project life cycle. Project communication management ensures timely and appropriate handling of project information through formal structures and processes.

Manage project risk (BSBPMG536)

Here we look into how to manage risks that may impact the success of a project. It involves identifying, analysing and monitoring project risks and managing them appropriately.

Manage project integration (BSBPMG540)

Here we cover how to integrate and balance overall project management functions and to track project objectives to comply with organisational goals.

Elective Units

Communicate with influence (BSBCMM511)

Confident communication is a key skill when trying to influence others. This unit will show you how to present and negotiate persuasively, lead and contribute in meetings and make impactful presentations to customers, clients and other key stakeholders.

Ensure a safe workplace for a work area (BSBWHS521)

This unit covers how to establish, maintain and evaluate an organisation’s work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs. You will review a systems approach and addresses compliance with relevant legislative requirements.

Develop workplace policies and procedures for sustainability (BSBSUS511)

This unit covers how to develop and implement workplace sustainability policies and to then maintain and modify the policy to keep up with new developments.

Facilitate continuous improvement (BSBSTR502)

This unit will require you to implement continuous improvement systems and processes within your organisation. This includes using systems and strategies to encourage your teams to participate in the process; monitoring and reviewing performance, and identifying opportunities for further.

Delivery Mode

Face to Face

Regular scheduled training sessions facilitated by highly qualified, professional trainers.

This delivery mode will also allow you to undertake self-directed learning activities in your workplace and receive support and feedback from your facilitator. Once you have had the opportunity to apply your learnings into the workplace, you will be required to undertake a final assessment workbook that incorporates a set of tasks for completion. These tasks may include written questions, projects, or simulated tasks.

Online

Similar to Face to Face, but in an online platform, we will have regular scheduled training sessions facilitated by highly qualified professional trainers covering.

This delivery mode will enable you to still have the benefit of a live class environment, and the ability to undertake self-directed learning activities into your workplace and receive support and feedback from your facilitator.

Once you have had the opportunity to apply your learnings into the workplace, you will be required to undertake a final assessment workbook that incorporates a set of tasks for completion. These tasks may include written questions, projects, and simulated tasks.

Blended

This option may suit individuals who can attend some but not all of the face-to-face sessions described above and are happy to do some of the course via distance.

This delivery mode will enable you to still have the benefit of a live class environment, and the ability to undertake self-directed learning activities into your workplace and receive support and feedback from your facilitator.
